The Verb BE

The following documents contain charts that were copied from a wonderful, new textbook, Grammar Explorer 1 by Daphne Mackey, Series Editors: Rob Jenkins and Staci Johnson. Publisher: Cengage Learning. I highly recommend this book for its interesting content, easy to understand explanations and beautiful pictures. Cengage Learning produced these books in collaboration with National Geographic. They are engaging and thorough, giving students an opportunity to practice all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) as well as grammar, pronunciation and tips for using “Real English”.

Lesson 1- Simple Present and Contractions with ‘be’

Lesson 2- Be + Singular and Plural Nouns

Lesson 3- Descriptive Adjectives

Lesson 4- Possessive Adjectives and Nouns
